Welcome to 'Hong Kong Cartography'

In the simplest terms, cartography is the art of map-making. But what constitutes a map? Can a map be something more than just an image detailing where roads run, how high mountains are, and what the distance from A to B is? What can a reimagined map of Hong Kong look like?

I believe that because maps are made by and made for people, the human element should be brought to the forefront. Thus this blog is less concerned with producing a literal spatial map of the city, but focuses on the human narrative. Daily lives, special locales, individual stories, anything and everything to do with local culture goes.

Pieces of a puzzle, all a part of  one coherent story.
